THE STORY

THE DAY WE MET ~ FRIDAY, JULY 8th, 2011

It was a Friday night with so much on the go in Ballito... "Prawn & Jazz Festival", "Mr Price Pro" and a concert at "The Pumpkin Theatre" A decision of what to do that night was stirring in the minds of Melody & Craig.

After contemplating for most of the day, Melody finally decided at 16h00 that the Prawn & Jazz Festival was the place to be. Watershed was the band playing that night. Melody remembered watching them a couple years back when they performed one lunch time at the Lifestyle shopping centre, and she absolutely loved the music, so she just had to go see them that night.

Anyway, she immediately went online to book tickets for her sister (Bianca) and herself, rushed home from work to get ready, and then hit the road to the farm where the Prawn & Jazz Festival was happening.

Craig on the other hand, had arranged for a bunch of mates to visit Ballito for the weekend and to have a blast at all the beach festival’s on the go. As it turns out, he was home alone after all his mates disappointed him and did not visit. After contemplating the evening alone, he decided to go relax at the Prawn & Jazz Festival and listen to Watershed, at their concert.

Melody & Bianca had just enough time to grab something to eat before the band came on stage. They stood close by, as it was a small crowd that night, and enjoyed the music. During the concert, Bianca pointed out a strapping lad standing not far behind them. She said "that’s the Manager at Dis-chem, which I have to report to when I am doing promotional work in store".

Craig spent the evening walking around the festival. He got himself a beer and no doubt he enjoyed the prawns.

The interval came and this strapping lad walked up to the ladies and greeted them. While Bianca got chatting, Melody waited in anticipation for a formal introduction. Eventually it came, it was a brief introduction but she learnt that this man’s name was Craig and he is a Manager at Dis-chem Pharmacy. The concert was about to start again and Craig said bye and went off.

Melody spent the second half of the concert with wondering eyes, trying to catch a glimpse of this man who she had so briefly met. While Craig kept his distance, not wanting to stand on any “possible boyfriends” toes.

The concert finished and Melody and Bianca went to get some coffee. They were on their way to the coffee stand, when out of nowhere Craig re-appeared. Melody’s heart jumped and she immediately felt butterflies stirring up inside.

Finally, she found the words to ask if he would like to join them for coffee. Craig accepted and Melody was thrilled.

The gentleman that Craig is, refused to let her pay for the coffee.  They found chairs and a table nearby which they sat at and chatted. It was close enough to hear the Jazz music which had just started playing but far enough for them to hear each other and have a conversation.

They chatted throughout coffee and learnt a few more things about each other. When Craig found out that Melody was a conveyancer, he embarrassingly pipes up, “oh yes, that’s the people who stand on the roads taking measurements of height and distance!” Melody chuckled and corrected him saying that he was mistaken for a surveyor and not a conveyancer. She didn’t mind this mistake, it made her smileJ

When it was time to call it a night, Craig walked the ladies to their car, and then he plucked up the courage to ask for Melody’s number. Her darling sister (the techno chick that she is) said "hay, you got BBM, give me your BBM pin and ill add you to my sister's BBM". The two said good night and went their separate ways... This wasn’t so separate after all...

On the way home, Melody noticed that Craig was going in the same direction as them.  This is not unusual because Ballito is a small town. Turn by turn, Craig followed the ladies.

After he was still following them, just a few 100m's from home, Melody said “he’s following us”.

At that particular moment, Craig turned into his driveway just before Melody took the last turn to her own home, up the road.

Melody let out a sigh of relief, realising that Craig is not a stalker, but does live close by.

It was not long after that, when Melody’s phone chirped. It was Craig, he just wanted to say that it was lovely to have met her and he would love to see her again, “maybe tomorrow after lectures?".

It was a date!!!

On Saturday evening, Craig picked up the ladies (Yes, Bianca came with for support), and they went to Gateway for Pizza and movies (cars 2 in 3D – Craig wanted to watch a boyz movie). They had a lovely time together and learnt even more about each other.

It wasn't long after that, that these two started spending quite a bit of time together.

Melody remembers one of the meals Craig prepared for her in the early days. It was 'ribs and chips', well she was rather embarrassed when she got to look in the mirror and found rib sauce all over her face. This was never spoken about until much later in their relationship. It has now become quite a personal joke between the twoJ

This was the beginning of our story. We could go on forever, and tell of all the amazing adventures we have experienced together...

What a great start, which has lead to marriage and will be a lifetime of memories to come!!!
